Hey my name is Stephanie Ann Tyler. I was born and raised here in Mobile, Alabama and have lived in the same house for 20 years, almost 21 years since my birthday is October 8th :) I have a sister who is 15 months older than me and her name is Lisa. She just recently graduated for Auburn University with a degree in nursing and lives in Georgia with her husband Phillip. I also have two wonderful parents who support me in all my endeavors and a cute, lovable dog named Conrad. Most of my time is spent at the barn where I keep my horse Maddie. I compete in the sport of three day eventing and travel all around the Southeast to attend competitions. I also teach horseback riding lessons and summer camps as well as take care of the horses at the barn. Horses,competing and riding are my main interests and passion in life but I also like to spend time with my friends. I love being outdoors, going to the beach, shopping, and baking. Italian food is my favorite and I hope to one day visit Italy. Fall and spring are my two favorite seasons. I love the bright colorful flowers of spring and the cool crisp weather in the fall.
I ended up going to South because it was close to home and my horses and it just fit. I started off in general studies with the plan to transfer to Auburn and major in Nutrition. However, I decided that just wasn't the path for me so I changed my major to Elementary Education/Special Education in the spring of 2010. I decided to switch to this major because I wanted to help special needs children learn and grow despite their disadvantages. I also love to see a child's face light up when they learn something new. Thats just a little about me and I look forward to all the neat things I will learn in this class.
Time Management
I like what Dr. Pausch said about do the ugliest thing on your to do list first. I never really thought of doing that I always would save that for last but It makes sense especially when he puts it in terms of eating frogs. I also know that Dr. Pausch wrote a book called "The Last Lecture" that I read about a year ago and throughly enjoyed. He wrote the book for his children because he was terminally ill with cancer.
You and I are alike in some ways. I'm an education major as well. I have too lived in Moss Point, MS, in the same house for almost 21 years. My birthday is on October 1st. Yes, Libra's are the best. I love animals and especially dogs so much that I'm called the mother of my friend's dog because I treat him like he's my little baby. He's the cutest little pit-bull puppy you'll ever see. His name is Nitro and believe the name truly fits. Horseback riding sounds interesting. This information about you is what really stood out the most to me because it's totally different from something that I would do. I would love to learn how to ride a horse although I'm a little afraid of them, but they seem like their gentle giants. Wanting to teach special education says a lot about you and I'm deeply moved. It means that you have the time and patience to teach students with special needs and I think that is wonderful.
